FAYETTEVILLE — Over 100 family members who lost loved ones while serving in the military are headed to Texas for Snowball Express.

Each year the Snowball Express offers families of fallen military heroes a chance to get away for awhile. This year it is bound to a ranch in Texas that will be transformed into an amusement park for the families.

The trip also gives the families a chance to meet others who have walked in their shoes.

"There are other families that are going through what you've been through, that an organization has brought us together to be able the heal together and remember the good times and share those experiences with one another," said Army Capt. Marissa Alexander.

More than 1,300 family members will attend Snowball Express from across the country this year.
