FAYETTEVILLE – Progress continues for the nursing programs at two Fayetteville universities. Methodist University has had a successful launch of its new program with more than 70 students enrolled.

Meanwhile, Fayetteville State University is working on a proposal that could get its four-year program back by fall. It was halted two years ago after too many students failed the National Council Licensure Exam.

Methodist University nursing student Libby Bledsoe says the appreciates the convenience of having nursing school options locally.

"Being five minutes down the road from my house and being able to stay close to home and being able to be aware and familiar with my area and where I'd be doing clinicals or visits is very comforting," said Bledsoe.

A two year program for working nurses has continued at Fayetteville State. It allows registered nurses to work towards a bachelor's degree.
