CHAPEL HILL—There is a buzz on the hardwood in Chapel Hill.
The talk of the town is not the 5th-ranked Tar Heels, but rather another stellar squad; the Chapel Hill Tigers. The team recently rode Denzel Ingram's 30 points and improved to 23-0 after Monday's convincing win over Southern Vance High School.
Ingram has become the catalyst for Chapel Hill High School, averaging 24 points a game this year while becoming the school's second all-time leading scorer.
“He is certainly one of the best players I have ever coached. He has great talent, a great young man first of all. He prides himself on defense just as much as offensively on the floor which is great. Offensively he is a pass-first point-guard which is great,” said Chapel Hill head coach Tod Morgan.
Ingram said s he plans to wait to the end of the season to make up his mind on where to play for his college career. So far, Ingram has Charlotte, High Point, and Appalachian State among others on his radar.
His coach thinks if not for his measurables, that list of suitors would be even more impressive. There is still a little work left to do in the regular season before the Tigers head into postseason play as one of the favorites to advance to the 3A state championship game, a year after falling in the regional final.
