FedEx Ground expansion in Kernersville could mean new jobs

A 2-year-old facility in Forsyth County is set to expand. FedEx Ground on Old Greensboro Road plans to add 83,000 square feet to its facility. The company says the growth will happen in phases, and throughout the process, it will hire as needed.

Mecklenburg County commission adjusts spending plan

Mecklenburg County commissioners spent hours Tuesday night adjusting the proposed spending plan. The county manager's recommended budget called for a 2.5 cent property tax increase, but in a straw vote last night, commissioners agreed on a slightly smaller 2.35 cent increase.

Charlotte City Council approves property tax increase

Homeowners in the city of Charlotte will pay more in property taxes. The Charlotte City Council approved its budget and capital plan Monday night. The nearly $2 billion spending plan includes the first city property tax hike since 2006.
