SHELBY, N.C. -- Shelby police now say a woman's teenage son conspired with a classmate to kill her. The attack happened last week at their home.
Police arrested Lindsay Wood's 15-year-old son and his classmate, 16-year-old Miguel Lopez, earlier this week. They're both charged with attempted murder of the 32-year-old woman and conspiring to commit murder.
Police say Wood and her son had just come back from church when Lopez attacked her and cut her throat. At that point, investigators say Wood grabbed her bible and started reading verses to Lopez. He eventually apologized and ran off. Afterward, she called 911.
She's now recovering in the hospital. Police have not released Woods' son's name or a motive.
