A Beaufort woman is behind bars Sunday after three years on the run. Officers arrested 36-year-old Tracey Robinson Thursday.

Dozens of Coast Guard officers are coming home just in time for the holiday weekend. The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Diligence returned to Wilmington on Saturday afternoon after nearly two months on patrol in the Caribbean.

Residents may be soon able to vote on a smoking ban at Wrightsville Beach. The New Hanover County Board of Elections says enough people signed a petition calling for the ban which would make Wrightsville the first smoke-free beach in North Carolina.

More than 1,600 volunteers will be helping Pamlico County resident Geneva Gibbs said losing her home has taken an emotional and physical toll. After Irene swept the coast, her home was completely destroyed and she didn't have insurance.
