FORT HOOD — The Army psychiatrist charged with killing 13 people on Fort Hood in Texas in 2009 is seeking a delay of his court martial in a hearing Thursday.
Lawyers for Army Maj. Nidal Hassan said they need more time to prepare. Maj. Hasan faces 45 counts of murder or attempted murder and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
His court martial is scheduled to begin in march. He has not entered a plea. Carolina Beach native Kim Munley is credited with shooting Hasan and helping stop the attack.
