Jack Britt football coach Richard Bailey was approved by the Scotland County Board of Education Monday evening for the head coaching job at Scotland High School. The Scotland County job became open when Chip Williams stepped down after guiding the Fighting Scots to the school's first 4A championship with a victory over Porter Ridge.

Havelock High School coach named coach of year

Jim Bob Bryant, the coach of the Havelock High School Rams, is the 2011 Prep football coach of the year. Bryant earned nearly a third of the 16 votes from sports writers across the state. The Rams finished the season undefeated and won the state 3-A championship.
