PORTLAND, MAINE—Maine's Republican Party Chairman said GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney won the Maine caucuses by a slim margin.

The victory came after Romney lost three other contests during the past week. Romney defeated Ron Paul, the only other Republican hopeful competing in the state. Maine has 24 delegates to the party's national convention.

Twenty-one delegates were at stake with the caucuses.
