FAYETTEVILLE – A 22-year-old died early Thursday morning in an accident involving a suspected drunken driver.

Police say around 12:30 a.m., Lavardis Whitman and 30-year-old Terekus Rogers were pushing their car that had broken down to the side of Swain Street when 23-year-old Jeremy Banaka drove into them.

Whitman later died at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and Rogers had non-life-threatening injuries.

Banaka has been charged DWI and police say more charges could be coming.
