FAYETTEVILLE—Cleanup was under way Thursday as high winds caused a tree to split and fall into this home during storms Wednesday night.

Fayetteville resident Shirley Campbell said she and her fiance have been renting the home for three years. Her fiance Reggie was in their bedroom when the tree fell. He was covered with debris and taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

She said they are thankful that his injuries were not worse.

"You can't get a life back, but you can get materials back. We can get the house, we can replace all of the bedroom stuff, whatever that was in there. But we cannot replace him," said Campbell.

Clean up crews are working to clean up the damage and patch the roof. The American Red Cross is assisting the family in the meantime.
