COLD WEEKEND; FREEZING RAIN IN SPOTS SUNDAY
We go from unseasonably warm temps yesterday to talk of cold, and in some cases, icy conditions today. There's another batch of rain scheduled to move in from the south tonight. It'll begin as rain, but as temps dip to freezing in areas north of Charlotte (Iredell, Rowan counties), it will become freezing rain. It will mainly be an issue with slippery spots on elevated surfaces, such as bridges, street signs, etc. But it could create enough of an icy glaze on tree limbs and power lines to create scattered power outages. Otherwise, most of the Charlotte area and points east will see just rain. A messy day all around.
Monday, temperatures warm above freezing all around the state, so with more showers in the forecast, it'll be all rain. More of the same on Tuesday, with perhaps a thunderstorm thrown into the mix. The rest of the week, it will be chilly, but rain and ice-free.
TODAY: Mostly cloudy with a few showers east of CLT. Temps dropping through 40s.
TONIGHT: More rain develops, with freezing rain north of Charlotte. Low 36, colder north.
SUNDAY: Rain/freezing rain. High 39.
