HANG TIGHT FOR ONE MORE NIGHT
Gorgeous weather to arrive right on cue

TONIGHT: Chance for a gusty thunderstorm into the evening. Turning partly cloudy and less humid overnight. Low 59.
FRIDAY: Mostly sunny, quite breezy with low humidity. High 74.

If you remember late yesterday's storminess, especially west of I-77, yours truly drove through all of that. Coming down the Saluda Grade on I-26, I encountered as torrential a rainfall as I've seen in years...pulled off at the first SC exit to get cheap gas, and mused that I HAD to have driven through a warning. As the pump ran, pulled up my radar app, and sure enough there were two warnings. Driving through stuff like that will wear you out...and I had the pleasure of more rain after I stopped for a free meal at mom's. :-)
This evening has been relatively quiet, save for a couple of nasty thunderstorms that started on the NC/SC border near Shelby and dove down to Rock Hill, sparing Speed Street. The other fiesty cell was in northern Iredell County, which soon crossed into Davie County. As I write, that's pretty much it. While there is still a sizeable area of hit and miss storms well to our west and into TN, they are increasingly hit and miss in nature...yes, we'll keep a chance for a scattered shower or storm through late tonight, but with the setting of the sun will go a lot of the thunder component to the storms.
Tomorrow will be a glorious new day, with fresher, cooler air being blowin in on gusty breezes with the sunshine returning in force as the day wears on. Copy for Saturday, and Sunday morning just might be downright chilly with lows in the lower 40s....maybe cooler in the hinterlands to the north. Sunday, the BIG race day, maybe a few more afternoon clouds as the highs climb to around 77 degrees...a great evening for racin'!
Clouds thicken Monday, but rain chances look to hold off until Tuesday.
